WoW: Fugitives by Alexander Gordon Smith

First of, I cannot believe I missed the "Top Ten Tuesday" meme this week, especially since I just joined a book club and we had our first meeting yesterday. We have already picked all the reads until February of next year, and I don't know any of the books. None of them are genres I usually read either, so it will be an interesting year to say the least. There are some biographies in there though, I am looking forward to read. Also, of all the books, I was picked to be the leader for a book which was written from the perspective of a dog...

Without further ado, now on to today's post. "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine where you highlight books whose release date cannot come fast enough.

My choice for this week was super easy since I have been counting down the months and days for it to finally be released. Only 27 more days until Alexander Gordon Smith's "Fugitives" hits the bookshelves.

"Fugitives" is the fourth book in the "Escape from Furnace" series and I am getting more and more excited the closer the release date gets. I absolutely love, love, love this series. It's super intense, dark, disturbing, and simply brilliant. It keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very first word until the very last period. I cannot recommend this series enough.

Which books are you looking forward to read? Feel free to leave you thoughts in the comments.

  1. I've heard about this series, but haven't read it yet. Maybe I should!

    1. Oh, yes, you sooo should! Seriously, next to the Soul Screamers this is by far my favorite series I discovered last year. I cannot get enough of this world! :D

  2. I'm so impressed that you are reading all these books in English and obviously you understand everything and perfectly! (Well, your English always was very, very good...I wish I could say that my Spanish would be perfect as well...but unfortunately it isn't.)
What a about this book club? It's a "real" book club and the people meet once a week or how does it work?

    1. Aww, thank you, Anettchen!!! *hugs* I'm telling you though, if it wasn't for living in the UK and now Canada, my English wouldn't be anywhere near where it is right now. I'm still making a ton of mistakes though, and there are still words I need to look up every now and then. ;)

Yes, it's a real book club. We meet at the library on the last Tuesday of every month. We're 12 people, so it's a good-sized group. I haven't read this month's book yet, but I still have two weeks to do so. :)

  3. That's really cool because here I was always looking to book shops and book recommendations as well but it's quite difficult. Normally you can find books here in shopping centers like our German "Galeria Kaufhof" or "Edeka". In Palma there are a few book shops but the opening hours are quite complicated - they are closing in the afternoon...don't think that they are reopening on time! No, they don't...Among other things this was the reason to buy an e-reader...besides Spanish books are quite expensive so I love Amazon Germany...and of course my beloved Kindle! ;-)
So in your book club you are reading one book each month or how does it work?

    1. Seriously, without the library I wouldn't be able to read much at all. You can get books at Walmart, but they don't have a very big range. Sometimes you can get lucky, but that's like once or twice a year maybe. The only other cool place is the used book store. They don't always have the latest books, but you can get some great "Schnaeppchen". :D
I'm so jealous of you! I would LOVE to have a Kindle, but they're just so expensive. Sometimes I download Kindle books for my PC though. Even though I'm not a huge fan of reading on the PC, it's sometimes better than not being able to read certain books at all. ;)
Yes, we read one book a month. This month we're reading "Clara's Rib". It was written by a local woman about her sister who spent a lot of time growing up in a Tuberculosis Hospital in Ottawa. The author is also coming to our next book club meeting to talk about it. It sounds very interesting. I think I'll probably start it Monday.

  4. Don't be jealous, it's just a Kindle ;-). It's a great thing to have one, especially for me because I'm able to read German, English and Spanish books but in the end a book has more character! Last Christmas, I really missed to have a look in the book shop (because it always ends in bying kilos of books which my parents have to send me...). And last year when I was in Stirling, Scotland I had to enter in a book shop. Surely, Alberto, Antonio and Arantxa were quite annoyed because I wanted to go to a book shop. At the end, I did even they didn't give a lot of time to look...and of course, I haven't left the shop without bying books! Couldn't you order books at Amazon Canada?
So I hope you will keep us informed about the library book club as well!

    1. Yes, I could order through Amazon Canada, but it's too expensive. I can't really afford buying too many books. Kindle books are usually cheaper, so that would be easier for me. So, yes, I'm still jealous. *lol*

I will keep you informed for sure. I'll probably write another post about it after the next book club meeting. :)
