Stacking the Shelves {5} & My Reading Pile {9}

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and by sharing what I received in the mail this week, I am giving credit to her.

I had two incredible weeks at my mailbox. I was going to put up a post last Saturday, but my birthday and a busy weekend got kind of in the way of that. Anyway, off to why you're really here.

So, last weekend was my birthday and my amazing husband got me a gift card for Amazon, so that I can buy my very own Kindle. I haven't bought one yet though, because there are rumors of a Kindle Touch with Light/Glow releasing some time this month. I have waited this long already, so a couple more weeks won't hurt.

One of my longest and dearest friends, Susi, also gave me an Amazon gift card. She thought it was kind of a boring gift idea, but I couldn't have been any happier. Thanks to her, I can now call these two beautiful books my own.

I love how the camera light made the title for Masque of the Read Death look so colorful. I think everybody who knows me, knows how much I have wanted to have this book and I cannot believe it has finally found its way onto my bookshelf.

Everneath by Brodi Ashton is another one of those books that have been on my to-buy list for a very long time. Its cover is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot wait to dive into the world of Nikki and Cole.

Thanks to the wonderful people at Hachette Canada, I know own my very first physical copy of a review book. The cover for House of Shadows is so stunning, and the story sounds so very interesting.

Wrecked by Anna Davies is a book I won during a giveaway at  My Shelf Confessions and the lovely people from Simon & Schuster Teen sent it to me.

Lastly, I got some really neat swag from the #DaemonInvasion Tour. Aren't they pretty? Thank you so much to Janae from Janae's Book Obsession for sending this to me!

This week at the library

Yes, yes, I know I have too many books already and I haven't even finished my last library books yet, but when I saw that this book was being acquired I just had to put my name on the "hold" list. Now, it's my turn to get sucked right back into the world of The Mortal Instruments.

Yes, that is City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare! It has taken me everything I have to stay away from all kinds of website around the Internet to avoid reading any spoilers. Apart from one thing which I read by accident when somebody tweeted about it on twitter, I don't know about anything that happens in this book. I haven't even read the back cover yet and I won't until after I read the book. I am very excited about this one!

My Reading Pile {9}

As I am sharing what I will be reading this week, I am giving a huge shout out the wonderful Rachel over at fiktshun who came up with this brilliant idea.

I am ashamed to admit I haven't read anything in three weeks. Rachel Vincent's Before I Wake totally and utterly destroyed me and I just haven't been able to pick up another book ever since I finished it. That is really not good AT ALL, especially considering I now only have about a day and half to read Insurgent by Veronica Roth and I am only about sixty pages in. If I don't finish it now though, I won't get another chance for at least another month or two since the waiting list for this book is extremely long at my library. Well, we shall see what happens.

For pretty much the same reason and because I am dying to find out what happens in this fifth book of the series, my read after Insurgent is going to be City of Lost Souls.

If I happen to have more time to read this week - and don't end up in another reading slump - I will also add House of Shadows to my reading pile.

So, what about you? Did you get any bookish goodies in the mail this week? Do you have a list of particular books you would like to read in the following days? I would love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful reading week!!!

And don't forget Wednesday, July 11th is #TeamTOD's first match at the #YACrushTourney 2.0!!!

Stacking the Shelves {4} & My Reading Pile {8}

Before I get started on the awesome books I got this week, I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize to my followers.  Yesterday I realized with great shock and disbelief that I haven't posted in over a week and that is not OK. It has been a very strange week - I have been living a day behind (seriously, all day yesterday I thought it was Wednesday, and I spent today thinking it was only Thursday and didn't realize my mistake until the NHL Draft started on TSN) and if that wasn't enough to throw me off, it has also been an extremely hot week - and not the good kind of hot, if you know what I mean... Tonight's the first night the temperature is halfway decent.

In addition to all that, I was waiting on a book to get here and the longer the mail took, the more frustrated I got - I couldn't even pick up another book because my mind was fixated on this particular one. It finally arrived yesterday and I've been feeling like I've died and gone to heaven ever since I first touched it.

So, long story short, until yesterday I didn't feel like doing anything, I had lost "my spark" if you will, and let me tell you, that is no fun at all. I am going to try my very best and start posting more regularly again. Thank you so much for sticking by me! I appreciate it a whole lot!

Enough with the rambling and on with the things you actually came here for.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and as I am sharing what I received in the mail this week, I'm giving a big shout out to her.

First up is the book I had been waiting for all week:

A HUGE thank you to Rachel from fiktshun for hosting the incredible Soul Screamers Reading Challenge, and to Rachel Vincent for offering a signed, early copy of Before I Wake for a SSRC giveaway - which, as you might have guessed already, I was lucky enough to win. In all honesty, I still cannot believe I actually won it and that I am reading this precious book right now. I am only about halfway through, and it is so fantastic already! If only there were more hours in a day, so I could spend more time reading...
Another thank you to fiktshun for the amazing bookmarks of A Touch Mortal, A Touch Morbid, and Witch Eyes! They are all so pretty!

*****

Another book I got is a galley of Holding On To Zoe by George Ella Lyon which is set to be released on July 17th, 2012.

I failed miserably trying to remove the "Not Final Cover" sticker cleanly, but if you would like to see the finished cover, simply click on the book title above and it will take you to the Goodreads page. I received this book from MacMillan. They had mentioned this book on their twitter account (@MacKidsBooks) and I happened to tell them it sounded like a very interesting story (you all should definitely check it out). The next thing I know, they asked me for my address, so they could send me a copy. I was so perplexed - and still am, actually - but am really excited to find out the truth about Jules and her baby Zoe.

This week at the library

My local library was so awesome to me this week. A while ago, I had put in a "request to purchase" for Veronica Roth's Insurgent after Lisa - the lovely woman who does my little man's story time at the library - recommended I should do it. She has read Divergent too and really wants to know what's happening in the sequel as well. So, when I went to the library last weekend she came up to me all excited, saying that Insurgent was in the process of being put into the system, and since I was the one who put in the request, I would be the first to get it. When I went back to pick it up a few days later, Lisa was there again and she was all giddy and saying I should read it really, really fast because she was next in line for it. She is such a sweetheart and I love the fact I actually know a few of my librarians. Two of them have actually said that me and my little man are almost living at the library...ah, I wish... So, yes, another long story, but I am super thrilled to read Insurgent.

To my surprise, I also had Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers waiting for me. Last time I had checked online, it still said it was being acquired, but they seem to speed up the process when somebody puts the book on hold even before they actually have it - which is very useful to know, by the way. When I first saw that they were trying to get it, I immediately put my name down to have it, and no two weeks later...voila... I am so happy. Of course, it also means I will have to read these books super fast because I won't be able to keep them longer than three weeks since other people have put them on hold as well.

So, yes, this was an extremely happy and exciting book week for me!

My Reading Pile {8}

As I am sharing what I will be reading this week, I am giving credit to fiktshun who came up with this wonderful idea.

First up is of course Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent. I am hoping to finish it tomorrow or the day after and I can already feel that I will want to re-read it again right after, but I will try and force myself not to.

My second book for the week will be Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I already started it while I was waiting for Before I Wake to arrive, but I just couldn't concentrate on it. With my mind was set on Before I Wake, so I didn't want to continue with Insurgent because I was afraid my reading experience would get ruined. So, I am very ecstatic to get back to it sometime this week.

Now you know what I got in the mail and what I will be reading this week. How about you? What goodies did you receive this week? Are there any particular books you would like to read this week? I would love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful reading week!!!

Stacking the Shelves {3} & My Reading Pile {7}

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and so I'm giving a shout out to her while sharing what I got in my mailbox this week.

I only received one book, but it is one I have been dying to read ever since finishing its prequel. Here is a picture of the beautiful ARC of Amy Plum's Until I Die.

Isn't it gorgeous??? I actually won this during @MTGReviews #2000follower twitter party and I still can't believe I was the lucky one to win this book. I am not at all embarrassed to admit I need my Jules fix asap, though I do still have a few books I want/have to read first. So, anyway, thank you so incredibly much, Jenna!!! If you want to check out her blog, you can find it right here.

My Reading Pile {7}

As I am sharing what I will be reading this week, I am giving credit to fiktshun who came up with this awesome idea.

With Armchair BEA keeping me so busy this last week, I hardly got any reading done. I am about 50 pages into Alexander Gordon Smith's Execution. Hopefully, I can finish it by Wednesday and then dive into Leah Clifford's A Touch Morbid

So, as you can see, my list hasn't changed from last week. I will have to squeeze in Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers Novella Never To Sleep before June 14th though, since that is when the Soul Screamers Reading Challenge will end.

There you go, short and sweet. Now I'll have to see if I can't get my If I Die thoughts written down. Wish me luck!

In My Mailbox #6 ~~ My Reading Pile #5

"In My Mailbox" is a weekly feature hosted by The Story Siren, where you share what you received in the mail during the week.

I only received one book this past week, but it is full of awesomeness and I cannot wait to get sucked right back into this mind-blowing world.

Yes, yes, I received Leah Clifford's "A Touch Morbid"!!! Isn't it gorgeous??? I won it a little while back during the #ATMparty on twitter, which was hosted by the wonderful @lexcade and @katelyntorrey. The two of them were lucky enough to attend Leah Clifford's InsaniTea party which launched "A Touch Morbid's" release. So, not only did I get this amazing book, but it is also SIGNED by the fantastic Leah Clifford!!! I am beyond thrilled!!! Thank you so, so much to all three of you!!!

As if that wasn't enough, they also send me some beautiful bookmarks. I LOVE the writing on the back of the "A Touch Morbid" bookmark. It's so pretty. The super surprise, however, was the "Witch Eyes" bookmark. I am in love with it! I loved the book with its amazing cover, and now I can call this stunning bookmark my own. These eyes...

My Reading Pile #5

The lovely Rachel over at fiktshun came up with this idea, where you share what you are intending on reading during the upcoming week. So, as I am sharing my pile today, I am giving credit to her creative mind.

Of course, I had to add "A Touch Morbid" to my pile right away. As soon as I am finished with Alexander Gordon Smith's "Fugitives", it will be next.

I am so stoked I am finally reading "Fugitives". I have been waiting so, so long for this, and last night I just had to start it, even though I was beyond exhausted. I am hoping I can squeeze in at least a couple more chapters tonight.

The other book still staring back at me is "Galileo's Daughter". I only have eight days left to read it, but I still don't see myself finishing it until then. There were a few times I was somewhat tempted to pick it up and give it a try, but I never did. I am going to at least flip through it though before our next Book Club meeting.

Did you receive any books in the mail this week? Did you buy any great books? Is there a book you are dying to read this week? I would love to hear from you!

Happy Reading!!!

In My Mailbox #4

"In My Mailbox" is a weekly event hosted by The Story Siren where you share the books and other nice book-related goodies you received in the mail.

Since I didn't get to put up last week's IMM post, I am combining it with this week's.

Here is a picture - two pictures, actually - of my treasures:

For some reason, I couldn't get the camera to focus on the bookmark, so that's why the second photo is a little bit blurry.

In my own mailbox I received this amazing copy of "Fugitives" which is signed and personalized by none other than the incredible Alexander Gordon Smith himself. I won this book during a contest on his Lockdown facebook page. This is actually the first book of the Escape From Furnace series I can call my own, and I couldn't be any happier. I am so thrilled to have this book in my collection and I cannot wait to dive back into the story.

Another goodie I got last week was the beautiful "A Touch Mortal" bookmark, which also happens to be signed by the wonderful Leah Clifford. I won it at the twitter #ATMparty, and it's just so gorgeous.
The timing couldn't have been any more perfect either, because I received both the bookmark and Scott Tracey's "Witch Eyes" on the same day.
"Witch Eyes" didn't technically land in my mailbox, BUT since my library didn't have any copies, I requested it. They had it sent in from the library in Ottawa and so, it came to their mailbox to be given to me to read it. Yes, I realize it might be a little bit of a stretch, but hey, who's paying attention to those minor details anyway...

As if these amazing books weren't enough, I also received a Kindle copy of "The Forsaken" by the author Estevan Vega for review.

My Reading Pile #2

"My Reading Pile" is an idea created by fiktshun where you share the books you picked to read for the upcoming week.

I'm reading "Witch Eyes" right now since I only have it for a limited time, and am hoping to finish it by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Then I was going to read "The Forsaken", but I might have to squeeze in another book first, because I just realized I am less than two weeks away from my next Book Club meeting, and I haven't even started with the book for it yet. So, after "Witch Eyes" I will probably be reading "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer, before taking on "The Forsaken".

My wishful thinking read for this week is definitely "Fugitives", there is no doubt about it. If I could, I would pick it up RIGHT NOW, but I don't want to have to bring "Witch Eyes" back to the library without having finished it first, especially since I am loving it already.

So, there you go, this is what I received this week and what I am hoping to be reading in the next seven days. Now, what about you? What did you get in the mail this week? Are there any particular books you plan on reading?
